So… remember how, at the end of last year, I had big hopes that 2024 would see the world take a turn for the better? Awkward. But at least the great novellas kept rolling in. And my ant colony grew exponentially, so a huge thanks to you all.
This year I read about 100 bite-sized books, of which I reviewed 64. My standout favourite of those published in 2024 was… (drum roll)… Headshot by Rita Bullwinkel. What a revelation of both form and substance that turned out to be! Equally exciting though, was my discovery of The Princess of 72nd Street by Elaine Kraf, a criminally forgotten masterpiece from 1979 that has now taken its place on my list of all-time favourite books.
As for the rest of what I read…
